There are many ways to get involved with Sanguen. Whether you’re interested in community outreach, behind-the-scenes support, or governance leadership, we welcome people who want to contribute to safer, healthier communities.

Community-Based Volunteering

Kit-Making Groups (Kitchener & Guelph)

A great place to start is by attending one of our weekly kit-making groups. Volunteers help assemble harm reduction and health supply kits that are distributed through outreach and clinic services.

Kit groups are:

  • A low-pressure way to get to know our team
  • An opportunity to learn about harm reduction
  • A starting point for those interested in becoming peer volunteers

Outreach Support – Community Health Van

Volunteers can also support our Community Health Van, working alongside staff to provide harm reduction supplies, education, and connection to services in the community.

Outreach volunteering is ideal for people who:

  • Are comfortable engaging directly with community members
  • Value harm reduction and non-judgmental care
  • Want to contribute to frontline impact

Training and orientation are required.

Other Ways to Support Sanguen

If outreach isn’t your thing—or you’re looking for a shorter or more flexible commitment—there are many other meaningful ways to help:

  • Administrative support
  • Clinic greeter / welcoming support
    Stock room organization
  • Clothing and donation sorting
  • Assisting with community donation pick-ups
  • Fundraising and event support
  • Communications and awareness efforts
  • Special projects (as available)

Board of Directors

Sanguen’s Board of Directors also offers volunteer leadership opportunities. Board members provide governance, strategic direction, and community oversight to support our mission and long-term sustainability.
