Helping Sanguen means supporting the entire community to thrive

A donation to Sanguen supports vital, front-line preventative health care for individuals facing significant barriers to care. While the return on investment in prevention may not always be immediately visible, the long-term impact is substantial—both in cost savings and improved quality of life.

By reducing emergency room visits and slowing the progression of chronic conditions, our programs help ease pressure on the broader health care system. For example, distributing naloxone kits to prevent opioid-related overdoses not only saves lives, but also helps reduce strain on emergency services.

Long-term savings are also evident in our Hepatitis C outreach. Early testing and treatment—costing as little as $14.48 for an antibody test and approximately $65,000 for treatment—can prevent the need for liver transplants, which average over $120,000 in Canada. By investing in prevention, we reduce both human and system-wide costs.

  • Reducing emergency room visits with harm reduction services like Naloxone distribution and overdose prevention and monitoring.
  • Hepatitis C testing and treatment outreach, preventing costly medical interventions
  • Providing healthcare to high-risk populations through mobile health vans
  • Improving quality of life for folks who are marginalized due to systemic barriers along with the housing and affordability crisis
  • Help build connection and wellness for folks who are homeless and struggling with other complex health and mental health issues
